Brand Identity Process

Getting your brand’s identity right is super important, you need to make sure you’re talking to the right audience! That’s why I’ve made a process that gets it right every time. Whether you’re starting a new brand or you want to give your existing brand a refresh, my collaborative and transparent process will make sure that we create an identity that’s right for you.

Below is a step-by-step of how I bring brands to life – from our first discovery session right through to project delivery (and beyond!).

STAGE 1

Discovery call

First we start with a discovery call so you can tell me all about your exciting project. It’s just a friendly chat about what your project is, what your desired outcome is and other important information like your target audience. My focus for this call is to fully understand your project so it can inform the next step – the brief.

STAGE 2

Design brief

After our chat I’ll go and create a brief which outlines everything that will be required for the project. It’ll outline important things like expected outcomes, timeframes and design yes & nos so that there are no surprises during the process.

At this point if you’re happy with the scope of the project then the contract can be signed and I can crack on with creative direction!

STAGE 3

Research and creative direction

This step is all about getting to know what your brand is going to look like. I’ll explore 2 design styles that could be suitable for your brand – this will look into the colours, typography, shapes, imagery etc.

This helps me to ensure we’re both still on the right page and that the project is going in the direction that you want.

STAGE 4

Design stage

Pencil is going to get put to paper in this stage! Here I will explore concepts that suit the design direction you chose in the previous step. Loads of different logo variations, colour schemes, typography and layout will be experimented with. There’s a lot of sketching and iterating to create the best version of your brand.

STAGE 5

Showcase

At this point the brand will be a tangible thing that’s ready to present to you! I’ll go through the entire project here by running through a brand presentation to help you understand the entire process from start to finish. It’ll run through the final version and the thought process behind it. This call is also to provide any feedback for the project if there’s any changes you’d like to make. I do 2 rounds of revisions if required to make sure you’re totally happy with your new brand.

STAGE 6

Finalise and off-boarding

After any rounds of revisions and the project has been signed off, I’ll create your brand guidelines document so that your brand can always be presented in the best way possible. I’ll also package up any brand assets into a folder full of every file type you’ll ever need for web and print.

I also provide post project support: I’d love to make a long term relationship with you after the project has been completed! I’m always available for any advice for your new brand or if you need any new assets creating.

I keep a backup your new brand identity on the cloud, so it’s safe and always to hand if required.
